Linotype Model 31 Video

Robert Griffith sent in this video of a Linotype Model 31.

The footage was shot in October 2005 at the Museum of Printing History, Houston, Texas, USA.

Dan Williams is at the machine and provides commentary.

It runs for very nearly three minutes and shows several lines being assembled and the machine going through the motion of producing lines of type. No slugs are produced as the pot is cold and the plunger’s pin has been removed, as Dan explains in the commentary.
