Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Bob

The Miehle 00 was a flatbed letterpress that printed a size of approx. 30x40".  It use to print books. It had a automatic feeder to help feed the sheets at a constant rate. The Miehle made a 0000 press that printed a 41x56" sheet.  I believe they were built around the turn of the 20th century.  They would print approx 500+ sheets per hour.  They moved in a horizontal movement where the vertical was a smaller size and naturally moved in a vertical postion.  I believe the 00 weight around15000 lbs. andthe 0000 was over 20,000lbs.  I owned a Babcock press which was built in the 1890's
