All the machines are driven from one central drive. Handy platform to walk along to fix disser stops.

Nice photo of great interest.  This is of a old style model M/1 which is clearly identified as a M/1 by the transfer buffer tube on the front plate, as an old style by the twin belt driven keyboard.
I think this is a double letter machine manufactured somewhere around 1898/1899.

I thought it sad that the article only generated four comments...so little interest...so little nostalgia once the players have moved on.
