When the Australian Prime Minister was elected unexpectedly, he said he believed in miracles. Given the available technologies, the daily production of a newspaper like The Telegraph was a miracle. And it was performed every day regardless of what else was happening in the world. And now this skilled team has been dissipated to the four winds...or retirement. Having said that, daily television news drawing on resources from all over the world takes skills and teamwork too.

Bruce Anderton

But these days newspapers are almost being produced by one man and his dog thanks to the technology employed, and all the hundreds of people who used to do the work (typesetters, compositors, process staff, pressmen, distribution workers, journalists, photographers, office staff and so many others) have been completely bypassed.
Such is progress!
