Linotype: The Film - Full Movie

If anyone hasn't seen "Linotype: The Film" yet, you're in for a real treat.

An organisation called Indie Rights Movies for Free has posted the full movie (all 1 hour 16 minutes of it) on Youtube, so I've posted it here.

A great film, with excellent graphics!

When it was newly-released I was doing part-time work for Urban Cottage Industries at Mytholmroyd, who at the time were still using Intertypes to produce slugs for hot-foil work, and they arranged a gala premiere showing at the cinema in Hebden Bridge, with attendees who had registered being presented with a 24pt slug of their name(s) set in Metroblack. We had a full house! I set the type for the tickets, albeit in smaller sizes of Gill Sans.

Linotype: The Film is a feature-length documentary centered around the Linotype type casting machine. Called the "Eighth Wonder of the World" by Thomas Edison, the Linotype revolutionized printing and society. The film tells the surprisingly emotional story of the people connected to the Linotype and how it impacted the world.

Along with this first-ever screening in Brisbane, director Doug Wilson will host an in-person question and answer session after the film, giving further insight and background information about the film. He will also share from his further research conducted since the release of the film over 10 years ago.
