It looks like you have somehow solved your problem, the type looks great!

I sometimes find it frustrating that just doing a general cleanup like this solves things even though I did not notice a specific problem while cleaning that would definitively explain the problem.

It may seem heresy, but I'm starting to think that the hat valve is unnecessary to the operation of the English pump.

Hey Kevin,

I think the pumps really did need a good, thorough cleaning, and I did notice a few things out of position when I did the pump adjustments, so I think the combination did the job. Hopefully.

Funny you say that about the hat valve, as another very experienced Super Caster operator (who I won't mention only because it may, indeed, be heresy) actually suggested I try casting without the hat valve.
