I installed the first Elektron in Mobile Alabama. Some of the compositors gathered around to watch it working. One said, "Trust you bloody Yanks to paint it blue." I told him I was Australian, and anyhow the assembler entrance was Rebel grey.

Speaking of Elektrons, Dave Seat, assisted by volunteer Chris Bradford have gotten the machine at the Museum of Printing in Haverhill, Mass. cycling and casting slugs. I was up on Wednesday with a couple questions for Dave, and jokingly asked if the museum had any punched teletype tape kicking around to feed the machine. Museum Director Frank Romano was there and said they might, but that they also have equipment in the collection that could produced 6-level TT tape. Wouldn't that be cool. On Open Days having the Elektron casting on its own...
