Chandler & Price Craftsman 12x18 Letterpress Printing Press.

A beautiful workhorse of a press, this 12x18 C&P serial number dates to 1927. Formerly owned by a family-run printing company in Shallotte, NC, founders of the Brunswick Beacon local newspaper. Owned and operated in our shop since 2012, for much of that time it was our only press and we built a successful greeting card line using just this machine.

220v motor with adjustable rheostat speed control, professionally re-wired. Features the top half of a Kluge autofeeder that was most likely added in the 1950's, however the front return mechanism was disassembled and removed at some point. Does not interfere with operation. This is a great press for someone into letterpress who wants to move up to a larger 12x18 platen and better impressional force than a smaller 8x12 or 10x15 is capable of.

Marked with a small number "7" on the front, possibly indicating that this was a line press at some point running alongside at least seven others! Who knows what stories this press could tell?

Great price for this priceless piece of printing history and a reliable beast of a machine! Could also be a great opportunity to fully clean and restore this machine and resell at a much higher price.
