During the two world wars there was a shortage of coins and banknotes in Germany and Austria due to the expansion of German territories and there not being enough physical cash to meet the demand of new users. As a result of the cash shortage, the state bank allowed individual towns to cities to print their own banknotes and mint their own coins. They were called notgeld or "emergency money" which is the literal transaltion from German.

Issued on 31 July 1921, the 50 Pfennig note shows compositors at frame and also a Linotype machine

Quote from: Dave Hughes on April 07, 2024, 09:31:53 AMHere's a "poster stamp" which could be stuck onto an envelope to advertise a business, alongside the regular postage stamp.

I know very little about it, having just spotted it for sale on eBay. It's from Denmark, and it appears to be for a business that handles Funditor equipment.

I'm guessing it's from the 1950s and I love the stylised illustration.
