Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Dave Hughes

eBay have recently allowed me to have my own page of selected eBay items, so I've decided to create a categorised and filtered version for people involved or interested in letterpress.

If you want to see items of interest on eBay categorised with all the rubbish (single wood type pieces, etc.) filtered out it should be of interest.

I've tried to fill it with items that are useful to the letterpress printer, items that are worthy restoration projects, rare or collectable items, useful books and publications, instruction manuals, interesting blocks and cuts, matrices (when available), and of course decent type!

As an eBay Partner I receive a small commission on sales, which help to cover the running costs of this site.

It is very early days for this page, so suggestions for improvement, comments on the content, etc. is sought. Please take a look, and let me know what you think by posting on this thread.

Many thanks to @realdougwilson for suggesting, and providing, the cool little circular matrix logo on the site banner!

Hi Dave
I really liked what you have done, but I was hoping that there might be a way to save the 'new you' as a 'saved seller' but I couldn't find a way to do that. Am I missing something?

Thanks for posting Terrie.

I don't think what you've suggested is possible, as it's not me that's selling the items.

I suppose the best you can do is to bookmark the page.

Hello Dave,

I look for actual wood engravings on eBay, especially old ones, but have to look through hundreds of listings to find one. Most all are electrotypes, zinc and mag engravings, lino cuts, foundry castings, etc. If there is any way you could find the wood engravings and list them separately, it would be wonderful!

Dave Hughes

Thanks for getting in touch Geoff, I have set up a "Wood Engravings" section and put a couple of items in it. As you said, they do seem difficult to come across! I shall be looking out for them in future.

If anyone else has a request like Geoff's please post on this thread.

Neat stuff, Dave!

For those us on this side of the Atlantic, through a little trial and error, I found that this link will display prices in USD: $ USA Version $

Otherwise, we are accessing the list from eBay UK.

Dave Hughes

Thanks for your words of encouragement Devin. As I said, it's early days for this page, and there's still learning to be done!

I've played about with the .com and .co.uk versions, and it would seem that as well as changing the currency, there is also changes to the items displayed.

So, it would seem we have two versions of the page:

$ The USA Version $

£ The UK Version £

I'm glad I took the time to run it past the community on here.
