Vintage Curle Brand Linotype Matrix Repair Anvil*

Seller's description:

This is a vintage Curle Matrix Anvil.
It is a specialized tool invented by George L. Curle and manufactured by The Geo. L. Curle Products Co. (later the Monomelt Company).
The device was used for repairing matrices for Linotype or Intertype linecasting machines, which were used in printing.
It helped to "gently" rub burrs off the lugs of a matrix to ensure proper function. It also helped straighten those narrow matrices that sooner or later got bent.
The tool was designed to save time, money, and materials in the printing process.
Made of cast aluminum and steel, it's 8.75" deep, 10.875" long, 4.75" tall.
