There are many parts on the setting machine - and many places where decades of dust and oil can collect until nothing works anymore. Now it was the knife cleaner that caused the problem. Well, just take it out and disassemble it, clean the cleaner and everything works fine again. Thanks Olof for identifying the culprit!
