1911 the year that the Intertype had it's beginning, is also the year that IBM started out. The URL below will take you to an interesting video overview of IBM's achievements over the last 100 years. One point of interest to hot metal enthusiasts is that in 1942 IBM started training for disabled employees. The photo accompanying this statement is of a composing room containing several Linotype machines.

Didn't realise "tabulating" was such a big business in the early days!
