Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Dave Hughes

Many thanks to George Finn for sending in this cartoon.

George says:

QuoteI think the attached cartoon may be of interest to our readers as an
indication of how times have changed. The cartoon is by Eric Jolliffe, a
well known Australian cartoonist, who had a unique view of outback
Australian life. The cartoon appeared in the first edition of the Sydney Sun
on July 12, 1971. When a copy was perused by the chairman of the Fairfax
board, he immediately phoned the Sun editor and told him to remove the
cartoon from later editions. I can only guess at the reason but I made sure
I kept a copy of the paper.
