Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

This video appears to have been taken on a mobile (cell) phone. Now this man knew he was going to have a front squirt before he sent the line away.  Most operators would have held the pump stop safety. If the safety is not working the machine should not be operated.

Hmm, Now that guy isn't what I would call a competent Linotype operator!  :o

Tough to call. Operator may not be familiar with the machine. Could be years since he sat down at a machine. Or maybe they were starting a machine that has laid inactive for long time, condition unknown. If the first elevator banking adjustment isnt right, and if the vice automatic aren't set then a front squirt is likely. Maladjusted pot pump safety. Also, if they are running the dreaded "double-black" or wrong auxiliary position on an advertising-figure mold, boy those could result in trouble. Looks like a Linotype, which doesnt have a mold-advance clutch safety. Later Linos had that extra pot-pump safety based on the pot position, this one probably doesnt have that. Lots of possibilities for the trouble.
