Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Dave Hughes

Thanks to Andy Taylor for sending in details of an event taking place at the Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre this month.

I just thought I should send you this be it all a little late
but we will have the Linotype 78SM running and hopefully the Monotype
but everything else will be working Ludlow, Elrod, the standard 78
and demonstrations of all the presses from the oak common press to
the Heidelberg cylinder, casting type by hand in a hand mould
and general comproom/printshop stuff.

The 78SM is the one we got from Cockermouth which was three quarter stripped
down when they got the floods a couple of years ago and then it was under 8ft
of water mud and debris so its been no mean task stripping it down to nothing
cleaning and rebuilding

So its well worth a visit if you could tell your readers from me!

Dammit, will only get back from France on 12th ... worked a 78 side mag for years at the Rhodesia Herald in the early 70's on display ads! Will try to get down there later as I only live in Storrington which is just up the road from Amberley!
