Dave Hughes

John Rogers got in touch with the following query by email. Can anyone help?

On behalf of the Museum of Printing in North Andover, Massachusetts, we are requesting your assistance. We have a copy of the 1937 Linotype Reference that shows the matrix triangle numbers... What we are looking for is a reference that would list later matrixes (from 1937 - end of manufacture). Can you be of any assistance?

hi dave,
try this link.....
http://gochipmunk.com/html/contents.html – then down the left side of page

1) About Matrices Matrix or Mats —
(the booklet contains many pages.  I could work at it, scanning all pages, however I can't estimate how long it will take.)
I have other projects going right now. But, better late than never.....  ok???

2) Teletype Matrix Fonts

let me know. . . .

• I could output .PDF pages of the above 1) and 2) if they would like them for display. Put some borders on them to make them more presentable as wall-hangers or ???

• Then for the book pages I could create .pdf pages (12" x 15") and consist of multiple pages from the book.

• These .pdf files can be sent to a Staples Office copy center. Staples prints large format, mounts them on foam board and puts a clear coat over the picture.
   see http://gochipmunk.com/html/linounivpdf.html  for example.

I have a copy of what I believe is Mergenthalers last matrix publication.
Its a sort of a sad, little GBC bound, soft cover "echo" of previous grand compilations.
This publication probably could be scanned, but that may take a while.
