Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Mechanic

In the late 1970's there was no question that photocomposition was going to replace hot metal. Pasting up pages and then converting them to a suitable product that could be mounted onto saddles on a letterpress machine for printing produced a lot of novel ideas. Among the innovations were plastic plates. There were a number of products on the market. One manufacturers was NAPP, San Diego. I was fortunate enough to be invited to tour the NAPP plant.

A group attending the 1979 ANPA-RI convention in Las Vegas were flown in a DC3 to San Diego. We stopped for a group photo at the airport. Unfortunately not all of the participants have been identified.
