Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Dave Hughes

I've never seen one of these before.

The illustration is from a 1955 catalogue from the manufacturers and would seem to show the top-of-the-range model.

I presume it is aimed at large organisations seeking an in-house printing solution.

Anyone used one?

Hey, I did a search and came up with what looks like a very well equipped Line-o-Scribe set in good order currently for sale on ebay at a Buy It Now price of $3,900 - buyer to collect - in New York State. Anyone in the market for one? It's essentially a proofing press with all the equipment needed to run it, that was intended to be used by family stores and similarly sized establishments to provide their print needs. There used to be some videos of these machines in action on YouTube, but they are currently unavailable so far as I've been able to check as yet.
