Thanks for posting those photos of the Intertype factory. It really made my day.
Boy, talk about some fresh photographs of normal folks going about their work - making Intertypes! That last photo of the Linotype was interesting - looks like a table-less version of an old A-P-L machine. Perhaps that was the best machine to use for proofing new mats, although Intertype did make machines that allowed some handset.  The main difference was in the style of composing stick. APL stick style was very similar to Ludlow.
