Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Timpers77

Hello my name is Nick Stott and my father George Stott was a Linotype erecting fitter at Altrincham for many years. He passed away in 2005 and I have since collected some Linotype machine name plates.
These may be of interest to Metaltype members.
Regards Nick

Hi Nick, Thanks for sharing pictures of the nameplates with us.

Is this the full extent of the collection, or are there more?

I think the plate mentioning the works at Broadheath might be quite an old one. Describing the same factory as "Altringham" seems to have been more common.

In a previous tread you mentioned some Items shown on the tele. I bought an engineering drawing from a guy close by in Timperley. Not sure if it's the same.

Struggling with attachments at the moment. Do I need to be logged in to post pictures ?

Nick

The staff at the Linotype archive are very helpful - if you give them the machine number from the plate, they can usually tell you exactly when it was assembled, dispatched and installed, with the name of the customer as well.

Here are a couple of pieces of memorabilia. Not sure if the engineering drawing is the same as the ones on The Antiques Road Show you mentioned in a previous thread. I bought this one from a guy round the corner in Timperley. The letter I got from eBay.
