Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Mechanic

The second person I showed this item, knew what it was. I wonder how many know what it is and have used one.

It is an Intertype hand setting stick for setting larger point sizes. I used to set 36 point. The matrixes were in a case similar to a handset type case. The matrixes were assembled by hand into the setting stick, then transfered to the casting elevator and cast into a slug. The Intertype was put on repeat cast so the matrixes wouldn't be transfered to the distributor.

That is correct Graeme. I found it when I was looking for a part for the C4 that we are rebuilding. There is an item relating to the stick on Metal Type.
