Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

John Nixon

Spied this today at the premises of Blenheim Print, New Zealand.
This is the site of the former commercial printing division of the Marlborough Express.

Cheers to all

John

Thanks for the post John.

Do you know the answer and are just testing us, or are you in the dark as well?

I Googled J. T. M. Series Printing.

The closest I got was; John T. Marshall JTM series hot foil press

None of the photos looked like the one posted by John.

That's my ten cents, for what it's worth.

Yep I do know what it is.

Clue: It would have a handle in the hole, and you see the complete device.

It really is a binding machine rather than a printing device.

Something for "Squaring up" sections of a book, etc. before guillotining or stitching?

Dave: Nearly there.

Clue Number 2:

Is very busy once a year, you will have had the end product (and may well still have), somewhere in your house.

Cheers

John

Terry

I reckon it's something that creases a piece of light steel plate to a Calendar.

John Nixon

Spot on Terry - It is used for the purpose of closing the old style calendar rail.

This was outside a premise that has just scrapped a large Letterpress pre-press area, you would not want to see what they did with the 2 lovely Linotypes.

A colleague has purchased 2 Rosewood cabinets each complete with trays and type.

Pictures later.

Cheers

John
