Nice graphic George, although whoever produced it seems to have over-simplified the modern process to make a point.

Proof-reading and correcting seems not to be required for the modern process!

The 30% increase in press speed seems quite modest compared to the other advances.

I created the graphics to demonstrate to visitors at the Pimpama Print Museum. It is simplified to show people who have never heard of a Linotype. The Sydney Morning Heralds Letterpress machines ran at 70,000 per hour in a straight run. I checked the advertised speed of modern offset machines and the stated speed was 100,000 copies per hour.
