Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Issued on 5 May 1954. (West Germany
This is my favourite Gutenberg stamp.
Gutenberg using a pair of inkballs to ink a forme locked on the bed of his press is based upon a woodcut by Jost Amman.

Staying in Germany.
Issued on 3 August 1961.



The same image was also used for this stamp below (issued on the same day), which was for use in the American, British and French Occupation Sectors of Berlin.

Issued on 24 June 1962 to celebrate 100 years of the Paper and Print Workers Trade Union. (Hungary)

The Gutenberg Museum also appeared on a postage stamp.
Issued on 25 september 1964 (West Germany)

Issued on 20 May 1968 (Republic of Dahomey). Two stamps to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Gutenberg.

Issued on 5 May 1983. (West Germany)

No mention or image of Gutenberg, instead we have a depiction of gutenberg's letters (he had more than 26 soldiers of lead!).

Issued on 19 October 1992.  (Antigua & Barbuda)

In 1993 Barbuda re-issued the stamp from 1992 with the addition of BARBUDA MAIL overprinted across the middle of the stamp.

Issued on 27 April 1993 in a set titled 'Inventors'.                    (Madagascar)                           


The next stamp that appears chronologically is the stamp that appears in post 8 of this thread.

Stamps issued by Republic of Dahomey in 1968 which were overprinted BENIN or République du Benin and redenominated in 1997.
