Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Patrick Leary

I'm trying to write an article for the American Typecasting Fellowship  newsletter on the 2-in-1 Master Model Linotypes. These had rotating distributor bars to handle both 72- and 90-channel mats. When a 72-channel magazine was in position, 18 keys were inoperable. I'd like to get recollections from machinists who maintained them, or operators who set type on them. The 2-in-1 Master Models included 8-14-31-32 and were shipped primarily in the late '30s or early '40s.
