FAG FORM TEST Cast Iron Saw designed for accurate trimming of lead for printing*

Seller's description:

This is a very heavy machine! I'm estimating between 120-150kgs of iron and steel.

Perfect for accurate sizing of small board or plastic sheet prior to fabrication.

Its a FAG Form-Test and it was developed to speed up the printing industry. This company also made printing machines so it is very high quality.

As it is a specialist machine it has a limited blade height of 25mm and cannot go any higher. 1 picture shows how the tale lifts when the blade is raised too high. We used it for cutting down hard board and melamine laminates so we extended the arm of the safety cover to allow the bigger board to pass through. The video is rough but more to do with the blade needing sharpened...

We also changed out the motor to a 240V for ease of use but the original 380V 3 phase motor and cable are with it. The single phase it a bit louder but was good for our purposes.

It has had a fair bit of use over the years but it still running well.

I can put send this on a pallet with a freight forwarder but will need a phone number and it will take a few days. The listing did not let me add this option in.

I had a bit of difficulty finding any background information but there is a bit below

1937 -This year in which the company was established, the European printing trade was dominated by letterpress printing techniques and predominantly had the structure of a craftman's trade. Taking as a basis his experiences gained in America, Joseph-Otto Bobst, the younger brother of Henry Bobst who was to be responsible for the spectacular development of BOBST S.A. Turned his attention to the problems of rationalisation that existed in letterpress printing and introduced the methods of "Form-Test" to the printers in Europe. "Form Test" means an efficient preparation of the typographic printing forms outside of the printing press to cut machine down time and increase productivity and quality. He set himself up as an independent businessman and founded FAG (Fournitures pour les Arts Graphiques), giving it the legal form of a limited company.
