New monograph from the Oxford Bibliographical Society: J. C. Ross on Samuel Palmer of London: printer, 1717\u20131732: his career, printing and ornament use.<\/i>

\nJ. C. Ross’s study of the printing of Samuel Palmer is due to be published by the Oxford Bibliographical Society in the summer of 2026. The book consists of five chapters on Palmer’s life and work \u2013 including his employment of Benjamin Franklin as a compositor in 1724 and 1725, and his publication of The general history of printing<\/i> and the newspapers The free Briton<\/i> and The Grub-street journal <\/i>\u2013 followed by a catalogue of Palmer’s known printing, a conspectus of his ornament-stock, and supporting appendices and indices. Pp. 496. Octavo. Bound in quarter cloth. Paid-up members of the OBS will receive free copies as part of their subscription, and non-members may buy copies at \u00a380.00 after publication. The Society is offering a pre-publication deal to non-members of \u00a365.00 (post-free in the UK) for orders received before 31 April 2026 (<\/b>members outside the UK should contact the publisher for shipping costs).<\/span><\/p>\n
