Many thanks to Rocky Baranowski, from Arizona USA, for sending in these pictures from his collection.<\/p>\n

These gifts would have been given away at trade shows and exhibitions early in the 20th Century.<\/p>\n

Says Rocky: “I don\u2019t know the scarcity of the 2 items attached, but thought you might want to post if you think others might find them interesting. The idea of making a cigar cutter out of a matrix to use at trade show giveaways in the early 1900\u2019s I find quite ingenious.<\/p>\n

Various \u201cInland Printer\u201d magazines mention that Intertype gave cigar cutters made from their matrixes to visitors at trade shows 1900-1916+\/-. I am uncertain of the time period in which Intertype used “lipstick lighters” as souvenirs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
