First Daily Newspaper in Canada to be printed offset

The Sherbrooke Daily Record, in Québec, was a frequent stop for me in the 1960s while I was employed by Canadian Linotype. One day I was driving from Montreal to Sherbrooke on a service call, when I was about an hour out the oil pressure light in the car came on. I apprehensively drove back to Montreal to the car leasing service station. Waited 10 minutes to be told the car was ready. The problem, "Faulty Light".

On January 22, 1968, the Record moved to a more modern building and became the first daily newspaper in Canada to be printed by the then-new offset process, using photo-typesetting production or cold-type, as it came to be called. It was the first major change in printing method in almost 60 years for the paper, which had been using the traditional hot-type production.
