Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Mechanic

We now have a Ludlow at Pimpama, thanks to Arthur Johnson at the Gullgong Print Museum. Des Cater, the man in charge of the print shop, swapped it for a Riso copying machine. The machine is in need of some tender loving care. Unfortunately the locking lever was bent when it was being lifted off the ute, so that it no longer lined up with the release catch. Fortunately Graeme our handy engineer, with some help from Des, managed to get it back in place.

That is me with the Ludlow. I last worked on a Ludlow in 1956. I have never pulled one to pieces. The water tank has half inch thick red cake for water. Des has taken the tank home to see if he can clean it out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
