Oregon Historical Society acquire a Linotype

This Model L Linotype from 1915 has been acquired by the Oregon Historical Society (USA).

Nice looking machine, not sure what the wooden "modification" to the keyboard is about!

The machine is pictured at the museum's storage facility.

I'm intrigued by the huge electronic control panels to either side of the machine. Were they used to help put a man on the moon, or maybe, more mundanely, control a power station?

Looks interesting, these panels look like something found in an industrial plant control room. Who knows, maybe even a nuclear powerplant? Hacking around would be fun.
