Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Members and guests who worked in, or are interested hotmetal and letterpress printing, may get a kick out of perusing the collective lectures give to apprentices at the Boston North End Union School of Printing. The lectures were given in 1908,1909. That is just on 100 years ago.

Looks pretty good George, I've managed to embed it on the forum.

It looks like the embeded version is a bit easier to view than the one you linked to. You can zoom to the size that you can read, then scroll through the pages rather than "flipping!"

Bit late here in the UK now, will have a good look tomorrow.

I've just finished reading the whole lot. Very interesting stuff.

The lecturer on printing books was quite disparaging of the Linotype!

Lots of info on the Paige typesetter (the lecturer on the Linotype seemed a huge fan). But I notice he thought the Rogers Typograph was barely worth a mention!

Even read the "ink" lecture - who'd have thought there was so much to that subject.
