Vintage AM Varityper phototypesetting type disc, model VT-161D, housed in its original labeled protective case.
This disc was used in professional AM Varityper phototypesetting machines to generate photographic text for newspapers, books, and commercial printing before the digital era. Each disc contains a complete typeface encoded optically around the perimeter.
The disc and case show light, age-appropriate handling wear. Labeling remains legible, and the disc is well preserved. A desirable and increasingly collectible artifact from the golden age of analog typography and graphic design.
