Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Dave Hughes

Beautiful photograph of abandoned Linotypes still in situ.

It looks like anything brass has been previously stripped.

Says the photographer:

QuoteThese ghostly linotype machines stand guard on the 7th floor of this early 20th century gothic masterpiece in St Louis, MO.

The above is photo sad in away.

On a similar theme; Fairfax owned a vacant building in Sydney in the 1980s. We had some machines that were surplus to our requirements, including a Linofilm. I thought what a good place to start collecting machines for a museum, so I had the machines sent to the building. We had Property Manager who was responsible for all Fairfax's buildings in the Sydney area, unfortunately I didn't tell him what I had done. I was preparing to send some more machines to the building and was informed that Fairfax no longer own the building. I asked the Property Manager what had happened to the machines stored there. He informed me that they had been sold for scrap.
