No prizes for guessing this model

QuoteNEW LINOTYPE
SPEEDIER MACHINE

CHICAGO. Sept 11 (AA.P.). The Mergenthaler Linotype Co. put on display, to-day a new machine with twice the speed of its standard model, with improvements to facilitate teletype-setting.

The vice-president of the Mergenthaler Co. (Mr. Harry Thorps) said that when the machine is used in the teletype-setting process, short lines can be centred automatically, simply by pushing a button. He said that the machine could set 12 lines or 530 characters a minute, compared with the. standard model's six lines or 265 characters.

The machine could be operated, with a teletype-setter tape or slowed down for manual operation. It weighs 1000lb. less than the standard model, and could be cleaned, maintained and repaired more easily. The machine would be in production by next January, and would sell for less than the standard model

Let's see . . . an Elektron?  Naw -- that machine was rated for fifteen lines a minute.  The Comet 300?  I don't think this machine came out until the 1950s.  Must be a plain old Comet!
