Monotype in Estonia

Hey! A small Monotype event is happening in Tartu (Estonia) on the 11th of March 2025.

Everyone is invited to the first presentation of the creative research project "Artistic rediscovery of the hot metal typesetting". The project looks at the importance of old typesetting technologies in the history of the printing arts, with a focus on the Monotype. The creative outcome of the project is a unique Monotype ABC-book in Estonian, which will be typeset and printed on the last surviving printing machines.

I know we have quite a number of "Monotype Experts" here on the Forum, so it would be great if someone could offer assistance to this worthwhile project.

I live in Wellington New Zealand and am a member of The Printing Museum. I have the privilege of being able to play with their Monotype collection, specifically the composition caster and its related equipment.

It has taken a while but I think I am coming to grips with the system. I have dismantled 2 casters and returned them to working order, along with 3 keyboard units. We have some manuals and an amount of other paperwork.

I plan to watch your post and if I can be of assistance, I will.
