This is a strange question, I suppose. But I recently left the USA to live in Rwanda. I was a Linotype operator for a few years in the USA back in the early 1990's.

Since coming here, I have become more acutely aware of the need to keep the memory of older technologies alive. Even if the old technology never has a resurgence, one never knows when someone will find inspiration from the way people solved problems back in the day.

So, does anyone know of working Linotypes anywhere in Rwanda or even equatorial/sub-saharan Africa?

I ask partly because I am networking to find the fix-it types in my new home. Finding the letterpress geeks seems like a good way to find my tribe.

Thanks!
