electro-copying matrices

In the past typefounders copied a lot of fonts, and did even held type apart, in order to be able to produce extra matrices in case some matrices were damaged...

The book Theo Rehak published in 1993, "Practical Typecasting" gives some directions, but reading it... it does not gave me all I do need to know.

Is there somebody at this forum who has any experience with this technique ?

I would like to make 1*1 inch matrices for the Monotype supercaster...
