Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Many thanks to John Nixon for sending this one in.

Says John:

How was this done, I believe it was created at Typographical Services in Wellington, New Zealand.

The slug was amongst a number of items gifted to The Printing Museum, Wellington, New Zealand.

No idea of how it was done, it seems to be a complete single casting, no double cast or breaks .

None of the slug is full type height, but you can see at the ends that it is been cast to the base of the liner.

John doesn't say how long the slug is or what the text says. the last few words I believe are "THE MACHINISTS AT TYPO CAN DO" It looks like the original slug was cast on a 42 pica machine.
Very clever how ever it was done.

It says:

NO OTHER MACHINES IN THE WORLD CAN DO THE THINGS THAT THE MACHINES AT TYPE CAN DO

The other unusual thing about the slug is that each word is flat, i.e. no curve on the letters within one word.

Correct George in is 42 ems long.

John
