oxidised matrices, how can they be cleaned

Every now and than I can get some old diecases. Because they have been stored so long in not the best conditions, many time the matrices are covered with a nice layer of oxide.

Whenever they are put in the machine, it will take some time before all the oxide is gone, whenever it likes to do so.

Does someone know a save way of cleaning the inside of matrices ?
