I was asked if I could find the date that Model 48 serial number 13581 was manufactured.

Any help would be appreciated

British. I have all the dates for machines made in the USA.

As it is a Linotype & Machinery English Linotype, as far as I know, L. & M. did not ever publish shipping dates for their machines, unlike Mergenthaler who did.

Hello George,

The machine number you've supplied would put this machine circa 1951 to 1952. I can't be more specific I'm afraid. As other posts have mentioned L & M were not great at giving specific shipping dates.

Thank you Michael, I'm sure that will satisfy the owner of the machine.
Regards George.
