George says: “I was going through some old family photos and ran across this one of me working on an Elektron Linotype.
“It appears that this machine has had a back splash.
“This was a problem with early Elektrons as the mold disk would start to turn before the mouthpiece was pulled back from the back of the mold.
“The result was that the material normally trimmed off by the back knife was smeared across the mouthpiece.
“A modification to the pot compression spring overcame the problem.”
